My Mission for Hometown Forestry
Rooted in the Land, Committed to Its Future
I grew up in Northern New Mexico, exploring the mountiains, learning its seasons, and watching its forests change. As a forester, I carry that connection into every plan I write, every stand I walk, and every conversation whether its with a landowner or logger (or someone who asks what I do for a living). My work isn’t just about trees though, it’s about people, legacy, and restoration.
I believe the forest industry can be a powerful force for healing: for burned landscapes, overstocked stands, and struggling rural economies. My mission is to help make that happen, right here in my hometown and surrounding communities.
What I Stand For:
Stewardship Over Shortcuts: I advocate for practices that enhance forest health, not just extract resources. A good forest treatment job leaves the land better than it found it.
Community-Centered Forestry: I prioritize working with local enterprises, loggers, millers, and landowners to keep the forest economy rooted in this place.
Access & Education: I want every landowner—whether they own 1/2 an acre or 10,000+ —to understand their forest’s potential and feel confident making decisions.
Fire-Resilient Forests: Especially after recent burns, we need proactive thinning and fuels management. My plans focus on readiness, recovery, and resilience.
Future Generations: I want young people in this area to see forestry as a career worth pursuing. That’s why I support mentoring, education, and visibility for our field.
What I Do:
All stages of private forestry Consulting. Write Forest Stewardship Plans that qualify for cost-share funding and align with landowner values.
Meet with loggers before operations begin to ensure quality, safety, and ecological sensitivity.
Coordinate restoration projects in post-fire areas with urgent need.
Advocate for the forest industry in public settings—through writing, education, and collaboration.
Explore creative ways to make local wood product use more viable (portable milling, biomass utilization, and small-scale enterprises).
I'm always happy to answer questions or give advice, if I'm unsure I'll admit it. I'm committed to working on finding solutions to new challenges that meet the clients goals.
I thrive on connecting people whose skills and experience surpass my own or who I know can deliver the best solution for a client. I’m passionate about growing a strong, collaborative community and forging partnerships that work toward a shared purpose.
Why It Matters: Because this isn’t just work, it’s home and its livelihood. If we want forests to be here for the next generation, we have to do the work today. And if we want the forest industry to thrive, we need people who care deeply and act locally.
That’s what I’m here to do.
