About
Rooted in Northern New Mexico
Modern Forestry Services LLC was built around a simple belief: healthy forests need active, thoughtful stewardship. Based in Northern New Mexico, we work with landowners, agencies, contractors, and local partners to improve forest health, reduce wildfire risk, support wildlife habitat, and plan for the next generation of trees and people.
Our work is not just about trees. It is about land, water, wildlife, rural communities, family legacy, and helping people feel confident caring for the forest they love.
How We Help Landowners
Forest Stewardship Planning
Practical management plans built around your goals, your property, and the long-term health of the forest. We help identify current conditions, priorities, treatment options, and steps toward a healthier, more resilient landscape.

Forest Health & Wildfire Resilience
We assess tree density, ladder fuels, species composition, access, and stand conditions to help reduce risk while protecting the character of the land.
Inventory, Assessment & Field Evaluation
We provide forest inventory, site evaluations, tree health observations, and field-based recommendations that help landowners and partners make informed decisions.
Project Guidance & Contractor Coordination
Good stewardship does not stop at the plan. We help landowners communicate goals, prepare for treatment work, and keep projects aligned with forest health, safety, and ecological sensitivity.

What Happens When You Reach Out
1. We talk about your land
We start with your concerns: forest health, wildfire risk, thinning, access, wildlife, family goals, cost-share planning, or simply not knowing where to begin.
2.We walk the property
A field visit helps us read the stand, identify risks and opportunities, and understand what kind of stewardship fits your land.
3.You get clear recommendations
You receive practical next steps based on forest conditions, landowner goals, and long-term stewardship.
4.We help move the work forward
Depending on the project, that may include a stewardship plan, inventory, maps, treatment priorities, contractor coordination, or follow-up evaluation.
The Forester's Eye
A healthy forest is not always the thickest forest. What looks untouched and beautiful at first glance may also be crowded, stressed, and vulnerable. A forester sees more than trees. We look for competition, ladder fuels, drought stress, beetle risk, and opportunities to restore grasses, wildflowers, wildlife habitat, and long-term forest health.
The Forester’s Eye is where we explain what we see in the woods and why stewardship decisions matter.
Curious About Working in Forestry?
Forestry is more than cutting trees or fighting fire. It is fieldwork, ecology, mapping, restoration, landowner conversations, wildlife habitat, water, soils, community, and long-term problem solving. Modern Forestry Services is committed to helping students, new workers, and curious landowners understand what stewardship looks like on the ground.
